The poultry industry is one of the largest agricultural businesses in the United States and in Virginia. Over the past 100 years the poultry industry has developed hybrid birds to produce very specific products. Broiler chickens and turkeys produce meat while layer chickens produce eggs. Virginia has growers who produce each of these types of poultry products.
