Livestock Update, August 2002

Mark McCann, Department Head and Extension Project Leader

As of July 1, Paul Ruszler and Bill McKinnon have taken the ASO package and retired from their positions in the Animal and Poultry Sciences Department. Both had given a lot of their talents and time to both adult and youth programs in Virginia and will be sorely missed. Additionally, Phil Clauer's departure for Penn State last summer and Larry Lawrence's departure for the private industry in Kentucky this summer have left the department with more programs than faculty support. In an effort to maintain some level of support in critical program areas, some duties have been juggled.

Effective July 1, 2002 Mark McCann will assume the role as project leader in addition to his Department Head responsibilities.
Effective August 1, 2002 Julia McCann will be hired part-time to assume the leadership and responsibility for the Virginia State 4-H Horse Show.
Effective September 1, 2002 Bruce Morris will be hired part-time to work with our Poultry 4-H programming. This will allow Curtis Novak and Audrey McElroy to increase their focus on adult programming.
