2002-03 Culpeper Junior Bull Test & Sale

Livestock Update, December 2002

A total of 90 Junior bulls (88 Angus, 2 Gelbvieh) and 7 Custom bulls (5 Angus, 2 Hereford) were delivered to Glenmary Farm on November 5, 2002. The bulls were weighed and vaccinated for BVD, BRSV, PI3, 7-way Clostridial, Haemophilus Somnus, and were dewormed. Bulls were allocated to two pens. After a two-week adjustment period, bulls will be weighed on test. They will be weighed and measured for frame size according to the following schedule:

  Junior & Custom
On Test November 18 & 19
56-day Weight January 14
84-day Weight February 11
Off Test March 10 & 11

At the completion on the 112-day test bulls will be evaluated for reproductive and structural soundness. Ultrasonic evaluation of carcass traits will be conducted during the test. Bulls in the Junior Test that are eligible will be sold on Friday, April 4, 2003.
