Virginia Premium Assured Heifer Sales Set for Fall

Livestock Update, September 2006

John B. Hall, Extension Animal Scientist, Beef, Virginia Tech

Approximately 400 Virginia Premium Assured Bred Heifers will be sold this fall across the state.  Commercial heifer breeders from across Virginia have been developing heifers to meet specific health, reproductive, physical and genetic requirements of this program, and will market heifers in these sales.  The sales listed below will feature only VA Premium Assured Heifers.  No other heifers will be sold in these sales.  Some VA Premium Assured Heifers will be sold by private treaty.

The VA Premium Assured Heifer Program produces heifers that will meet the needs of commercial cattlemen in Virginia as well as provide the base genetics to meet industry product targets.  For more information about the VA Premium Assured Heifer Program, consult the VA Premium Assured Heifer web site http://www.apsc.vt.edu/premiumheifers/index.html or contact Dr. John B. Hall, Extension Beef Specialist at 540-231-9153 or jbhall@vt.edu.  For information about specific sales, contact the sale representative listed below.
