Sheep Update: Sheep Management Basics Workshop Scheduled for October 28-29

The annual Virginia Tech Sheep Management Basics Workshop is scheduled for Thursday and Friday, October 28-29, 1999. The workshop will be held a the Copenhaver Sheep Center at Virginia Tech. This workshop is designed for individuals with a limited amount of experience in the care and management of sheep. Special emphasis will be placed on the management practices required in and around the time of lambing. Participants will get hands-on experience with a group of ewes that will be lambing during the two-day workshop. Other areas to be covered include sheep handling, lamb processing, flock nutrition and feeding management, breeding management, and genetics. This workshop is limited to a maximum of 25 participants. The cost is $30 per person. The first 25 preregistrants will be enrolled (deadline September 20). First-time participants will be given preference.
